88mm Deep Light Aero Carbon wheels.
At around 1550 grams per pair in tubular rims, this wheelset is still competitive in weight with many quality alloy wheels and carbon clinchers wheelsets with lower profile.
The deepest most aerodynamic wheel profile. Most suitable for fast and/or long solo efforts, time trials and triathlons. Ideal fit on a TT specific bike. Their deep profile is not only aero but creates a strong and stiff wheel. Please note that these wheels are heavier, which can be good for maintaining momentum on the rolling terrain of a time trial, but not the best for serious climbing. They are also more sensitive to side wind and their inertia will make your bike less responsive both in acceleration and for changes of directions. If you are concerned about side wind and want to optimize aero benefit with bike handling it is recommended to combine an 88mm rear wheel with a 50mm front wheel.
260grams/pair Ultralight Bitex hubset
66 grams RAF10 front hub with 20 front spokes.
194 grams RAR9 rear hub with 24 spokes, patented 6 pawls freehub working in two pairs for 48 engagement points per revolution for quick traction out of turns, and patented anti-bite stainless steel strip on Shimano compatible freehubs so the cassette will not dig into the alloy freehub.
Top Notch Sapim CX-Ray light and aero spokes (0.9mm deep, 2mm wide, 4.3 gram each with 0.4 gram 7075 alloy nipples). Arguably the best spoke in the industry (used by Zipp and other big brands)
38mm rim depth with U-shape aero profile (25mm wide on the edge, 28mm at the widest point)
25mm wide tubular rim bed for optimal profile with wider tubulars (25 to 28mm) for more comfort and more road grip.
High Temperature resin and basalt braking surface. UD fiber rim surface
Avalaible with the three industry freehub standards for the three main types of cassettes: Standard Shimano/SRAM, Campagnolo compatible or SRAM XD. Please specify on order, if you want something other than the default Shimano compatible freehub.
We highly recommend carbon wheels with tubular rims that offer the lightest weight, the use of high performance tubular tires including the ability to enjoy the low rolling resistance of the latex tubes used in top level tubulars and the rim strength of a tubular box rim structure (without the higher weight and weaker area of the lips found on clincher wheels. )
Contact us if you would like to only buy a front or a rear wheel or if you would like to mix different depths front and rear wheel. We can do that.
88mm Deep Tubular Carbon Wheels
- We highly recommend tubular rims that offer the lightest weight option, the use of high performance tubular tires including the ability to enjoy the low rolling resistance of latex tubes used in top level tubulars and the rim strength of a tubular box rim structure (without the higher weight and weaker area of the lips found on clincher wheels).
- Front: 20 radial spokes
- Rear: 12 spokes at 2-cross on drive side, 12 radial spokes on non drive side
- High Tg resins and basalt braking surfaces are important to withstand the heat from braking (see weight limitations in our warrantee section)
- Modern carbon wheels and frames should be best used with 25 to 28mm tires or tubulars
